The holidays look a little brighter on Galveston Island when Holiday in the Gardens at Moody Gardens returns for its 25th holiday season. Beginning November 21, 2026, Moody Gardens will transform into an after-dark Christmas destination filled with illuminated pathways, incredible ice creations, seasonal entertainment, and activities for all ages. The celebration continues nightly through January 2, 2027.
Instead of choosing just one Christmas activity, visitors can build an entire evening around the attractions. Bundle up, grab a cup of hot chocolate, and plan to spend a few hours discovering a very different side of Galveston during the holiday season.
WALK THROUGH MORE THAN TWO MILLION CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
One of the signature experiences is the Holiday Lights Trail, a mile-long walk featuring more than two million lights. Illuminated tunnels and animated scenes are paired with holiday music as the trail winds around the Moody Gardens property and offers views of Galveston Bay.
It’s an attraction you can enjoy at your own pace. Stop for photos, take in the displays, pick up something warm to drink, and enjoy a December evening surrounded by Christmas lights in Galveston.
DISCOVER A FROZEN WORLD INSIDE ICE LAND
A Texas Christmas gets a tropical twist with ICE LAND: Caribbean Christmas for the 2026 season. Master ice carvers use approximately two million pounds of ice to create an elaborate frozen world inspired by the Caribbean and Gulf Coast. The exhibit features marine life such as sharks, turtles, tropical fish, and eagle rays, along with an ice slide inspired by the Flower Garden Banks in the Gulf of Mexico.
Don’t let the Galveston weather fool you. You’ll want to dress for winter before heading inside. ICE LAND is kept at approximately 9 degrees, creating quite a temperature change from the Texas Gulf Coast.
ENJOY EVEN MORE HOLIDAY FUN AT MOODY GARDENS
The evening doesn’t have to end after the Holiday Lights Trail and ICE LAND. Visitors can lace up their skates at the outdoor ice-skating rink, race down the Arctic Slide, take younger children aboard the Kiddie Train, or head inside for seasonal 3D and 4D movies.
New for the 2026 season is A Very Electric Christmas, a live production from Lightwire Theater featuring electroluminescent puppetry and a glowing holiday adventure on stage. Admission to the Holiday Lights Trail is also included with tickets to the show.
Families visiting closer to Christmas can add another special memory to their trip with Breakfast with Santa, offered on select dates December 12, 13, and 19–23.
